The associate professor of English literature at Ritsumeikan University. Majors in English literature that has been influenced by religious thoughts of West Asia, mainly studies the Indian philosophy, Buddhism, Japanese literature and Japanese linguistics. Also translates some Japanese literature into English.

REPORT

Momiji-An, the small sweets café which located behind Yasaka shirine was the venue for genius table today. The colourful lunch boxes were prepared by the chef who was the meister of Kyo-yasai. ‘Itadakimasu’- genius table started with this voice as always. Through the session time, Natheniel and the participants exchanged views about the differences between Japan and the United States in various topics such as student attitudes, club activity, job hunting, dating, and ghosts. Natheniel also talked about his job a lot, the stories of American authors who had been influenced by Indian culture got everyone’s attraction. Participants got to realize that there were so many differences between cultures that was unable to notice in the everyday life.

Located in Higashiyama district, famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms in the garden. The foods and sweets they serve are representing the spirit of ‘omotenashi’.
